It’s Time to Reset!
It’s Autumn. Somehow that seems like a nicer word to describe the Fall. The kids are back to school. The humidity is low. We are in the lull period right before the craziness of the holidays hits us. Many clients look to me, a professional Interior Designer in Bergen County, NJ to help them restore calm and add some layers of warmth and coziness to their homes as we approach shorter days and cooler temperature.
Here are 3 tips to help in refreshing your home for this time period:
#1. Color Therapy
We have been seeing all the pastels and soft colors of the summer. Now it is time to introduce the darker jewel tones to add a sophisticated spin. Think of rich russet, perfect plum, bright berry, or beckoning blue for dramatic effect. Best way to do this is with great pillows. It’s like adding a scarf to your outfit.
Purple velvet paisley pillow.
#2. Accessorize for Personal Taste.
Candles and throws are a great way to add warmth and comfort in this season. And they are practical too! Using brass, copper or gold tones add depth and appealing tones to the mix.
#3. Texture adds to the atmosphere.
Instead of using smooth, highly polished items, add an interesting hammered metal object to the space. Today’s trend of sophisticated rustic is popular because it adds character and moodiness to your rooms. Raw materials like wood or concrete give you an autumn feel. It’s like putting on a chunky sweater and sitting around the fireplace.
